Specialised Cells Flashcards
What do animal cells contain?
Nucleus, Cell membrane, Cyptoplasm, and Mitocondria
What are specialised cells?
Cells that have changed shape and structure so they can do a job.
What do nerve cells do?
They carry electrical impulses
What do nerve cells look like?
They are long and thin
How do nerve cells work?
They have connections at each end which allows them to transmit messages
What do red blood cells do?
They transport oxygen
Whats special about red blood cells nucleus?
They have no nucleus
What are red blood cells shaped like and, how does that help them?
They have a disklike shape, it increases surface area for carrying oxygen
Where are leaf cells?
At the top of the leaf
What do leaf cells do?
They photosynthesise
What do leaf cells look/ made out of?
They are long thin and made of chloroplasts
Whats good about leaf cells surface area?
The surface area is good for absorbing sunlight
What do root hair cells do?
They absorb water and nutrients from soil
What dont root hair cells have?
Chloroplasts
What dont root hair cells do?
Photosynthesise
