Special Tests Flashcards
Gillet Test
Stork Test - pelvic drop- palpate spinous process and PSIS, patient lifts leg, PSIS should drop below S2
Quadrant Test
Patient slides hand down back of leg - combines extension, side bending, rotation
Slump Test
Trunk flexion, cervical flexion, knee extension
Release with cervical extension means involvement of neuro dynamics
Thigh Thrust
Hip flexed to 90, hand under sacrum, downward pressure applied to femur
SIJ Distraction
Specific for ruling in SIJ dysfunction
SLR
Ipsilteral - Sensitive- rule out
Contra lateral - Specific - rule in
Prone Instability
Assess for hypo mobility and lbp with movement coordination
FABER
Passive figure 4 with overpressure
FADIR
Flex hip to 90, internally rotate, adduct hip
Rule out labral tear, or impingement
Fitzgerald
Anterior- flex+ER+Abd to IR+add+Ext
Posterior- flex + IR + Add to ER+abd + Ext
(Labral and FAI)
Log roll
Assess for hip laxity
Scour
Sweep Flex-IR-Add to Flex-ER-ABD
Add axial compression if no reproduction with 2 sweeps
+ with pain, click, catch, pop
FAIR
Assess for piriformis syndrome
Bring leg passively to 60deg flexion, Add, IR
Add resistance at knee if passive not provocative!
McConnell
Patellar instability - test at 90,60,30,ext. if painful add medial glide
Noble
Compression Test - put pressure over lateral femoral condyles, and passively extend knee. Pain at 30deg May indicate IT Band syndrome
