Special Test Flashcards
Anterior Apprehension Test
Anterior shoulder dislocation- Arm is 90/90 and PTA laterally rotates till apprehension or grimace before reachign endpoint.
Posterior Apprehension Test
Posterior shoulder dislocation- 90 flexion and medial rotated. Posterior force is applied to find apprehension or pain.
Speed’s Test
Biceps tendon pathology- Elbow extended and supinated. PTA resists shoulder flexion with a finger in the groove. Positive if pain.
Yergason’s
Biceps tendon pathology- 90 elbow flexion and pronated. The humerus held against the pt’s thorax. The pt then actively supinates and laterally rotates till pain.
Drop Arm Test
RC- 90 abd and asked to slowly lower arm.
Hakins-Kennedy Impingement Test
RC-90 flexion and medially rotates till pain.
Infraspinatus Test
RC-elbow flexed at 90 and medial rotated PTA applies medial force.
Neer Impingement Test
RC- Stabilization of the scapula and elbow while taking the arm through flexion.
Supraspinatus Test
RC-90 abd and 30 horizontal add and PTA applies force to abd.
Valgus Stress Test
Ligamentous Instability- 20-30 elbow flexion and apply force laterally.
Varus Stress test
Ligamentous Stability- 20-30 elbow flexion and apply force medially.
