Navigational Rules, apply and are enforced by the USCG.
Puget Sound Pilots
are compulsory for all foreign vessels and US vessels engaged in trade. Pilotage for US vessels is optional if they are engaged in coast-wise trade on the west coast of the US, Alaska and BC and are under control of a federally licensed pilot.
Bellingham is a customs port of entry.
Quarantine is enforced according to the US Public Health Service. Immigration and agriculture inspections arranged through agent.
Tugs
to 4000hp are available in Bellingham, larger tugs available in Seattle, monitor VHF 7.
USCG station and port offices
located at I and J street waterway.
Vessels should not pass inside of
RN “4” at Starr Rock.
Use of an anchor for docking
is recommended when winds prevail and no tug available.
Backing out of Whatcom Creek
stay on azimuth of the channel until abeam Starr Rock.
