A

Hyperglycemia (Diabetic Coma)
Hypoglycemia (insulin shock/reaction)

-this occurs when an imbalance occurs between diet, emotions, exercise &/or medications

What is HYPERglycemia?

A

When blood glucose levels is HIGH
Sugar is present in blood but has no means of getting into blood tissues
Body tries to compensate by turning to fats for energy which ⬆️ acidity level in the blood-ketoacidosis

What is HYPOglycemia?

A

Occurs when blood glucose levels are too LOW
Blood does not have sugar to meet brain’s & body’s demand for proper function
Is an acute condition that can quickly become life-threatening if not treated
Can result from taking too much insulin, exercising too much, not eating enough, emotions, etc.
