Paella - What is it, where is it from and what are the two kinds?
Valencia! A rice dish with saffron.
Paella de Valencia has rabbit, chicken or snails in it while the version most associate with Paella contains fish.
What are Pinchos and where are they common?
They are small bites served on a skewer or a toothpick and are common in Cantabria, Asturias, Navarra and the Basque Country (spelled Pintxos)
What is Pan con Tomate?
Bread topped with fresh tomato, a drizzle of olive oil, salt and sometimes garlic.
What is Tortilla Española?
Served cold, it is an omelet. Layered potatoes, sometimes onion and scrambled egg poured over.
What is Jamón Iberico?
Ham made from the cured leg of the black Iberian pig, it’s sliced very thinly and is great with sherry.
What is Chorizo?
Pork sausage, traditionally seasoned with salt, garlic and smoked paprika, though several regional variations abound.
What is Manchego? Describe it.
A firm sheep’s milk cheese produced in La Mancha. It’’s sold after a minimum aging of 2 months and upwards of 2 years. It’s creamy, slightly nutty and a little bit gamey.
