Why does sherry not have a vintage (year) on the label?
A
Because of the “solera” system, in which sherries from different years are blended.

How does the solera system work?
A
Barrels of sherry are stacked and the lowest row is used for bottling. When the lowest barel is nearly empty they use the row above to refill it.

Who gave sherry the name sherry and who likes to drink it.
A
English grannies like drinking sherry and smoking menthol cigarettes. They say “sherry” because they can’t pronounce jerez - the place sherry is from.
