Simple present
She lives in Argentina. Ella vive en Argentina.
Present continuous
Happening at that very moment.
I’m working. Estoy trabajando.
Present perfect
To describe actions that have happened recently/still hold true in the present.
I have finished the letter. Yo he terminado la carta.
Past imperfect
Ongoing actions in the past. WAS. I was talking. Yo hablaba. She was 8years old. Ella tenía 8 años. Marcos watched tv while he ate. Marcos miraba tv mientras comía,
Pluperfect
describes a past action that happened before another past action.
HAD HAD.
We had gone to bed after finishing our homework. Nos habíamos acostado despues de terminar nuestros deberes.
Simple past
To describe actions that happened and concluded in the past.
We drank. Bebímos.
They bought. Compraron.
I went. fui.
Past continuous
To talk about continuous actions in the past.
(-ing words/was).
My sister was cooking while I was ironing. Mi hermana estaba cocinando mientras yo estaba planchado.
Near future
Conveys an idea of the future. Express a planned action/something that will happen in the near future.
We are going to watch a movie before going to bed. Vamos a ver una peli antes de ir a la cama.
Simple future
To express what will or shall happen.
(Something you WILL do).
I will speak to her. Hablaré con ella.
Future perfect
To refer to an event that hasn’t happened yet but is expected to occur before another occurrence.
(will have/would have).
I will have studied. Habré estudiado.
We would have studied. Habremos estudiado.
Present subjunctive
When talking about a belief, thought or assumption.
I hope that you are fine. Espero que tu estes bueno.
I hope that we go to the beach. Espero que vayamos a la playa.
Conditional
To express desires for the future/what you would like to happen.
(would).
Compraría un perro si tuviera más espacio. She would buy a dog if she has enough space.
Past conditional
Expresses hypothetical situations or conditions. (i could/should/would have). Habría podido. I could have. Habrías debido. You should have. Habríamos querido. We would have liked.
