1)¿Dónde vives? ¿Cómo es tu pueblo? -
Where do you live? What is your town like? -
Vivo en Motherwell cerca de Glasgow en Escocia. Mi pueblo es bastante pequeño, pero tiene un centro comercial y unos institutos. Es un pueblo industrial y aburrido.
I live in Motherwell near Glasgow in Scotland. My town is quite small, but it has a shopping centre and schools. It is an industrial and boring town.
2) ¿Qué estudias? ¿Cúal es tu asignatura favorita?-
What do you study? What is your favourite subject?-
Este año estoy estudiando siete asignaturas: matemáticas, inglés, español, historia, biología, química y educación física. Mi asignatura preferida es educación física ya que me encanta el deporte y me llevo bien con los profes.
This year I am studying seven subjects: mathematics, English, Spanish, history, biology, chemistry and physical education. My favourite subject is physical education since I love sports and I get along well with teachers.
3) ¿Tienes un trabajo a tiempo parcial?
Do you have a part-time job?-
Sí, trabajo como camarero en un pequeño café todos los fines de semana. Me gusta trabajar con el público y me gusta porque me pagan bien.
Yes, I work as a waiter in a small cafe every weekend. I like to work with the public and I like it because they pay me well.
4) ¿Cuales cualidades tienes que te hacen un buen empleado?-
What qualities do you have that make you a good employee?
Tengo muchas buenas cualidades. Soy muy trabajador, motivado y trabajo bien en equipo. Entonces, creo que podría hacer bien casi todos puestos de trabajo.
I have many good qualities. I am very hardworking, motivated and I work well as a team. So, I think I could do almost all jobs well.
5) ¿Te gustan las películas españoles? -
Do you like Spanish movies? -
Sí. Recientemente vimos una película española que se llama ‘cien metros’ en clase y me gustó mucho porque fue muy reconfortante y los personajes fueron divertidos.
Yes. We recently saw a Spanish movie called ‘one hundred metres’ in class and I liked it very much because it was very comforting and the characters were funny.
6) ¿Con quién vives? ¿Te llevas bien con tu familia?-
Who do you live with? Do you get along well with your family?-
Vivo con mis padres, con mi hermano y mi hermana gemelos. Nos llevamos muy bien y hacemos mucho juntos, por ejemplo, hago senderismo con mi padre y mi hermano muy a menudo.
I live with my parents, with my twin brother and sister. We get along very well and we do a lot together, for example, I hike with my father and my brother very often.
7) ¿Dirías que tus padres son estrictos?-
Would you say that your parents are strict?
No, no diría que mis padres son muy estrictos todo el tiempo, pero sí, a veces. Nos confían en mis hermanos y yo y entonces tenemos mucha libertad.
No, I wouldn’t say that my parents are very strict all the time, but yes, sometimes. They trust me and my brothers and then we have a lot of freedom.
8) ¿Tienes una pandilla de buenos amigos o un amigo especial?-
Do you have a gang of good friends or a special friend?-
Tengo una pandilla de buenos amigos pero me siento más cercano a ciertas personas del grupo. Como grupo, pasamos mucho tiempo juntos porque vamos al mismo instituto y jugamos al fútbol en el equipo escolar.
I have a gang of good friends but I feel closer to certain people in the group. As a group, we spend a lot of time together because we go to the same school and play soccer on the school team.
9) ¿Qué hacéis cuando sales con los amigos?-
What do you do when you go out with friends?-
Cuando salgo con los amigos, solemos jugar al fútbol o ir a casas de los demás. A veces vamos al centro de la ciudad y comemos en restaurante o vemos una película en el cine.
When I go out with friends, we usually play soccer or go to others’ houses. Sometimes we go to the city centre and eat in a restaurant or watch a movie at the cinema.
Dirías que es un año estresante para ti?-
Would you say it’s a stressful year for you?-
Sí, diría que es un año estresante para mí. Tengo que estudiar mucho porque hay que presentarme a un montón de exámenes en los meses que vienen. Hay mucha presión.
Yes, I would say it’s a stressful year for me. I have to study a lot because I have to take a lot of exams in the coming months. There is a lot of pressure.
11) ¿Puedes decirme algo de tus asignaturas?
Can you tell me something about your subjects?
A mí, las asignaturas que más me interesan son la biología e la historia, pero en otras me aburro a menudo. Por ejemplo, en inglés hay que escribir muchos ensayos y no me gusta nada.
For me, the subjects that interest me the most are biology and history, but in others I often get bored. For example, in English you have to write a lot of essays and I don’t like it at all.
12) ¿Por qué has decidido estudiar el español
Why have you decided to study Spanish?
Decidí estudiar español porque me lo encantó en primero y segundo curso. También es importante saber otro idioma hoy en día porque te ayuda cuando se busca empleos.
I decided to study Spanish because I loved it in the first and second year. It is also important to know another language today because it helps you when looking for jobs.
13) ¿Vas a continuar en el instituto el año que viene?-
Are you going to continue in high school next year?-
Sí, creo que continuaré en el instituto hasta el sexto año porque quiero ganar lo más cualificaciones posible y me gustaría ir al baile de fin de curso.
Yes, I think I will continue in high school until the sixth year because I want to earn as many qualifications as possible and I would like to go to the end-of-year dance.
Cómo son tus profes?-
What are your teachers like?-
En general, los profes de Nuestra Señora son muy serviciales y agradables, pero hay algunos que no me gustan nada. Por ejemplo, no me gusta mis profe de porque es estricto
In general, Our Lady’s teachers are very helpful and pleasant, but there are some that I don’t like at all. For example, I don’t like my teacher in religious studies because she’s strict.
Has visitado España?-
Have you visited Spain?-
Creo que había visitado España cuando era más joven pero no estoy seguro. No obstante, me gustaría visitar España en el futuro próximo para practicar y mejorar mis habilidades en español.
I think I had visited Spain when I was younger but I’m not sure. However, I would like to visit Spain in the near future to practice and improve my Spanish skills.
