space Flashcards
when an object is orbiting something what is constantly changing
the velocity of the object is constantly changing as the direction constantly changes
what remains the same during orbit
speed - scalar
what must an object do to stay in orbit if its speed changes
change its radius to remain in a stable orbit
if an object is closer to the orbiting orbit what happens
it moves faster in order to keep in orbit
if the force is greater on an orbiting object what does this mean
it will travels faster to remain in orbit
do galaxies closer or further from us have a greater red shift
galaxies further away have greater red shift meaning they are moving away more quickly
what is redshift
when we see light coming from galaxies that are far away, the wavelength has increased and shifted towards the the red end of the spectrum
