What does gravity do in space?
Provides the force needed for the orbital motion of planets, moons and artificial satelites
How do stars form?
Stars form when enough dust and gas from space is pulled together by gravitational attraction

When smaller masses are formed and are attracted by a larger mass to become a planet

When is a star stable and how?
Stable during the main sequence period of its life cycle because the outward force of thermal expansion is balanced by the inward force of gravity

Such a strong gravitational field that nothing can escape from it, including electromagnetic radiation such as light
What evidence is there for the Big Bang?
Light from other galaxies shifted to the red end of the spectrum this can be explain through space expansion
The existance of cosmic microwave background radiation is further evidence for the Big Bang and is currently the only model that explains CMBR

How is a supernovae formed?
When the more massive star becomes a red giant it is followed by an explosion in which the other layers of the star are ejected
What is a supernovae
A star which shines for a relatively short time with the brightness of 10 billion suns
What 2 things may be created when the supernovae’s remaining core of the star collapses?
Neutron stars
