What is a comet?
An icy object that orbits a star
What is a meteor?
A rocky object that orbits within our solar system
What is a meteorite?
A meteor that has reached the earths atmosphere it is a meteorite.
What is the Asteroid belt and where is it?
A collection of small rocks that orbit the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter
Where and what is the Kuiper belt?
It is a collection of small rocks and some dwarf planets, e.g. Pluto that orbit the Sun in the outer solar system
What is the relationship between the temperature of the planet and its distance from the Sun? Is there any anomaly’s?
As the distance from the Sun increases the temperature of the planets decreases. Venus is an anomaly as Venus is hotter than mercury, even though I it is further from the Sun
What does earth rotate about?
Axis
What does earth orbit around?
Sun
What are the Northern and Southern separated by?
The equator
Explain the 2 main reasons that the Northern hemisphere experiences summer?
When sunlight hits, the northern hemisphere energy is absorbed by atmosphere, as it hits more directly. And Energy is more concentrated on the surface as each ray is spread over a smaller surface.
Gravity is an attractive/ repulsive force?
Attractive
The large of the separation between objects, the larger/ smaller, the gravitational pull between them
Larger
What do comets orbit?
The sun
What is the natural satellite of earth?
The moon
