Earth’s axis
the center around which something rotates

An imaginary line around the Earth that goes exactly midway between the North Pole and the South Pole and divides it into two equal halves, the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.

It takes the Earth 365 days to complete around the sun
revolve
the motion of Earth traveling around the Sun.
rotate
turn or spin of the earth creating day/night, sun appears to move across the sky
seasons
During its journey around the Sun, the Earth is tilted. The Earth’s tilt affects the amount of daylight each hemisphere gets, which in turn makes the temperature hotter or colder.
inner planets
The first four planets from the sun = Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars.
outer planets
The four planets in our Solar System that are farthest from our Sun = Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
solar system
a group of planets and other bodies that revolve around a star.
crater
A large round pit caused by the impact of a meteoroid
satellite
a moon, planet or machine that orbits a planet or star.
