Sovereign Fuel System Flashcards
What normally provides fuel to the engines?
Primary Ejector Pumps
What is the back up for the Primary Ejector pumps?
Electric Boost pumps
How is fuel delivered to the Feed Hopper?
Gravity and 3 Transfer Ejector pumps on each side
What is the total Fuel Capacity?
SPR - 1,600 gallons (10,800 pounds)
Over Wing - 1,660 gallons (11,120 pounds)
Where is the Electric Boost Pump and Primary Ejector Pump located?
In the Hopper Tank
How many sump drain are there?
3 per wing
How do you fuel only one wing?
Pull the Pre-Check on the wing NOT being serviced
How do you De-Fuel one wing only?
Pull the respective Pre-Check lever
When do the Electric Boost Pumps come ON?
When selected ON or Automatically in the NORM position: 1. Engine Start 2. X-FEED 3. Low Fuel Pressure
What other time will the right Electric Boost Pump be scheduled ON automatically?
When the APU is started and operating with the right Engine shut down
What happens during a low fuel pressure event?
- Electric Fuel Boost Pump comes ON automatically
- FUEL PRESSURE LOW message extinguishes
- Amber FUEL BOOST PUMP L/R message appears
What type of valve is the X-FEED valve?
Motor valve
Can you X-FEED on EMER power?
No
What type valves are Firewall Shutoff valves?
Motor valves (fails in last position)
Motive flow valves are NC valves, but are usually OPEN, when do they close?
- No electric power
- Engine Start (on respective engine)
- X-FEED (on receiving engine)
When will you get an amber LOW FUEL L/R message?
540 pounds remaining +/- 60
What happens when you select X-FEED?
- X-FEED valve OPENS
- Supplying Electric Boost Pump activates
- Receiving engine Motive Flow valve closes after 3 second delay
What CAS message(s) appear during X-FEED?
- Cyan FUEL X-FEED
2. Cyan FUEL BOOST PUMP L/R
Do you need Main DC Bus power to supply fuel to the engines?
No Main DC power is required during: 1. Start 2. Low Fuel Pressure 3. X-FEED
When are the Pre-Check levers normally used?
- When checking the SPR automatic shutoff valves
2. De-Fueling
What is the NACA duct under the wing for?
- Fuel Vent
2. Overflow fuel drain
What is the Filter next to the NACA duct?
Positive/Negative pressure valve during SPR and De-Fueling
What powers the Fuel Quantity Signal Conditioner?
Main D.C.
What powers the LOW FUEL LEVEL float System?
EMER BUS
What triggers the FUEL LOW STBY annunciator and the CAS message?
Float switch
What technique is used to preflight the X-FEED?
Turn it to the Left first, so if you were to grab the PASS O2 switch by mistake you won’t deploy the Oxygen Mask
What is normally planned Taxi Fuel?
200 pounds
How much fuel is planned for a 45 minute RESERVE?
1,500 pounds
When does the ON light in the FUEL PUMP Button illuminate?
- Manual activation
2. LOW FUEL PRESSURE
What triggers FUEL LEVEL LOW L-R CAS message?
MAU’s
What’s required when approaching 600 pounds of fuel on either side?
Electric Boost Pumps ON
What constitutes a good Pre-Check test?
Fuel Totalizer on fuel truck shows 0 to 6 GPM fuel flow within 30 seconds
Do you know how much fuel you have on EMER power?
No
STBY power LOW FUEL annunciator will illuminate at 540 pounds +/- 60
What does the amber FUEL FILTER BYPASS L/R message indicate?
An impending or actual Filter Bypass
