Warm mediterranean. Warm summers, mild winters, low rainfall level. Strong wind Mistral
Soil
Vineyards at the foothill: less fertile, well drained

Carignan: high tannin, acidity and colour. Lack of fruit

Mouvedre: in blends. Adds richness, colour and complexity

Style
It diffucult to discribe a typical style of wine. In the more northern (cooler) Syrah works well (finesse, lighter tannins) Warmer areas Mouvedre (greater body, meaty, gamey)
The best wines are full-bodied, concentrated spicy red fruit, often with oak.
Many IGP wines are made here. Large volumes of ripe, fruity wines.
