What is the plantation system?
-Large agricultural centers
-wealthy planters- grow and export lots of cash crops
-“small cities” everyone had a job and lived and worked on the plantation

Beautiful homes
life of luxury (hunting trips and sports for fun)

Private tutors were hired because plantations were too spread out to get children to school daily
