• hung on for 5 nights until british relieved them

• mainly black soldiers who weren’t allowed to carry guns volunteered to go on mendi
• ship got hit with british liner (the Darro), started sinking
• most were sleeping, and there was lots of mist so confussed
• isaac dyobha gave nice speech in their 25 minutes to live
