What are the 3 sections of an AIP?
GEN (General)
ENR (Enroute)
AD (A/D)
How often are AIPs updated?
every 28 days
What is contained in the general section of an AIP?
National regs and services for that country such as:
A/C, passengers crew & cargo
A/C equipment and docs
Services such as ATC, SAR, weather and comms
Dangerours air cargo DAC
Munitions of war
What is contained in the enroute section of an AIP?
Information on:
Airspace classification and flight rules
ATC procedures and preferred ATS routes
Radio Navaids
Areas of intense aerial activity (AIAA)
What is contained in the A/D section of an AIP?
Operations into a particular airfield including:
Detailed A/D info
Hours of operation
contact info and A/D facilities
weather services
comms and NAVAID frequencies
When are NOTAMs published?
To give advanced notice of very recent changes or temporary changes that do not need to be incorporated into the relavent AIP
What are the 3 classifications of NOTAMs?
N - new
R - replacement
C - cancelled
When will a trigger NOTAM be published?
When an amendment to an AIP, or a supplement is published.
What is the purpose of a trigger NOTAM?
To inform of operationally significant permanent or temporary changes to the AIP and ensure users are aware of changes that may affect their flight
