What is a primary source?
- original writings from other authors, and statistics and reputable surveys
- sacred scripture and authoritative religious documents
What is a secondary source?
- articles that explain or comment on primary source
- newspaper reports, websites, some texts
Define the reliability of a source
Reliability of a source is dependant on if the source accurately expresses the views it claims to represent
Define the usefulness of a source
The usefulness is dependant on if the source serves the intended purpose
What is the evaluating sources method?
C.R.A.P Method C- currency R- reliability and relevant A- authority and audience P- purpose and p.o.v (point of view)
What are the 4 types of response to a current issue? (PTAA)
Prayer - ecumenical (universal) movement where people pray together on specific petition/s
Teachings - inform followers and believers on how they should live their life; guiding principals
Act - to take action; to do something the betterment of all; start a group or an activity
Advocate - publicly supports or recommends a particular cause on someone else’s behalf
What is a religious belief?
A religious belief is a conviction about an idea central to a religion that expressed a religious truth
What is expression of faith?
Religious faith is often expressed and supported by a variety of religious practises, rituals, celebrations and events.
What is a religious teaching?
Religious teachings guide and inform how people respond to religious belief
What is a religious practise?
Religious practises are a recognised way of doing something religious. They will often use religious signs and symbols (commonly occurring).
What are religious signs and symbols?
All religions use a range of signs and symbols to represent and convey meaning about beliefs. Signs represent or point to something else
What are religious rituals?
Religious rituals use symbolic actions, such as movement, gestures and words to express and promote what is important. Rituals are expressed through practises.
What are religious celebrations?
Religious celebrations are special times when religious communities joins together in worship, prayer or to celebrate a religious festival
What is a religious event?
A religious event is similar to a religious celebration. A set time/place in which an important aspect of religious faith is celebrated.

Explain Eucharist as a meal
- Bread and wine are consumed (spiritual meal)
- The risen Jesus becomes truely present in the Eucharist through the process of transubstantiation
- Christians commune with Christ by receiving him under the forms of bread and wine
- Fed with spiritual food for the journey of spreading the Gospel (Good News)
- Gather in Christ’s name
Explain Eucharist as a sacrifice
- God became human in order to bring humanity back to God (sacrificed himself)
- Only Jesus as both fully human and fully divine could offer the perfect sacrifice on behalf of humankind to God
- Jesus is both victim and priest of his sacrifice
- Bread and wine represent Jesus’ sacrifice of his life
