Source Level - Power Limitations Flashcards
1
Q
When does cavitation occur on a transducer?
A
When the peak pressure variation on the transducer faces is equal to the water vapour pressure.
2
Q
Describe interaction Effects
A
When many projectors are assembled together, the motion of an individual element will be affected by neighbouring elements.
Reduces power, affectsbeam pattern, impedence mismatches.
3
Q
How do you minimize Interaction Effects?
A
Separate elements up to a maximum of lambda/2 while still allowing sampling to occur at a sufficient rate (Nyquist Theorem). (IOT to beamform or receive, you need to sample at a sufficient rate which is based on the spacing between elements.)
Increasing size of elements
Using individual amplifiers
