Q

what is polarisation?

A

when a wave which was osciallating in multiple planes has been filtered to only oscilate in one.

9
Q

how would you filter all light out

A

have one filter to reduce the plane to (i.e) vertical, then have another in a different plane. no light will go through

Q

why is polarisation proof that EM waves are transverse?

A

only transverse waves oscillate in planes. longitudinal waves’s forwards and backwards motion wouldn’t be in stopped so light would still show even with filters in all directions
