Sound Flashcards
Pitch
Is a term used to describe the frequency of a sound wave. The higher frequency results in a higher pitch.
Loudness
A larger amplitude results in a large sound (shown on a wave)
Ear
pinna, auditory canal, eardrum, hammer, anvil, sturrup, cochlea
Pinna
focuses sound into auditory canal
longitude wave
vibrate parallel to the direction they are travelling. Sound waves are an example of this type of wave
transverse wave
waves you see in the ocean. they travel up and down at 90 degrees. light and ocean waves are both examples of this
refraction and density
if the medium B that medium A is going through has a higher density than medium A, the light goes towards the normal
concave lens
diverge
convex lens
converge
convex mirror
diverge
concave mirror
converge
refraction
when light slows down and is bent
cornea
refracts light as it enters the eye
pupil
lets light into eye which varies in size
iris
controls the amount of light entering eye
