The Intern Coordinator shall:
- Ensure that a particular command/office does not host a number of interns which would overtax its ability to meet the interns’ needs.
- Ensure an orientation is provided to each division intern
- Notify the college/university intern coordinator of disciplinary problems or other matters of mutual concern affecting an intern.
- Review and evaluate all reports completed by the intern prior to submission to the intern’s educational institution (ensuring they are accurate and do not contain confidential information). A copy of all materials shall be maintained by the Intern Coordinator.
- Coordinate and administer the department’s intern program.
- Maintain contact with both the university coordinator and intern’s supervisor and in conjunction with both, establish an acceptable activity schedule prior to the arrival of the intern.
- Notify the division representative of any student’s request for an internship in their area, including anticipated time frame.
- Request a background investigation and following the background investigation, notify the intern’s
prospective supervisor of final acceptance. - Maintain a central personnel file on each intern
- Notify the college or university of any changes, disciplinary problems, unavailability of requested area,
unacceptable students, or matters of mutual concern that would affect an intern in the program as identified
by the assistant chief concerned
Participation shall be limited to college/university students who are enrolled in a __ intern

Information found to be unacceptable will be grounds for denial of the student into the internship
program. The following shall apply:
- No felony convictions,
- No drug convictions except simple possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. (Must be
more than one year old.)

(4). No marijuana use for three months prior to entry into program, and
(5). No other illegal drug use for one year prior to entry into program.

- a representative from the Administrative & Technical Support Division,
