Q

What does the break in iambic pentameter suggest?

A

-That her thoughts and love is so consuming, that it is making her lose control of her self and the rhyme scheme
“put out broad leaves, and soon there’s naught to see”

-Or could reflect how her love is not complete without actually being with him, the sonnet is not complete with out the full iambic pentameter

Q

How does natural imagery present her love?

A

The extended metaphor or conceit of the vines about a tree show how her love for him is growing fast and out of control, how their love is natural and that she wants a close and physical relationship “vines about a tree”

-“my thoughts do twine and bud thee as wild vines about a tree”
-shows thoughts are growing around him and getting stronger like vines
“twine” - shows the physical closeness she wants, and emotionally connect
“bud” of used as a symbol for sex
“wild vines” - out of control, all consuming, needs the tree to grow- “I will not have thoughts instead of thee
“tree” often thought as a symbol for life
