Rowan tree features
double leaf from same point of stem than ash has less teeth than ash.
Features of Birch?
Lighter colour tree
Smoother trunk and branches
Heart shaped at start of leaf and go spiky
Birch leaves are usually small
Features of Alder trees?
Side or leaf has diagonal foreward spikey shape
Sometimes can have inverted curve at end of leaf.
Features of elm?
Looks like birch but one side of leaf is longer than other - it’s noticeable at leaf stem.
Also leaves are larger than birches.
Aspen trees?
Leaf stem is more taller than wide so cross section like a vertical line.
Wavy pattern on side of leaf.
Willow tree?
Multiple vertical leaves coming off main stem.
Spleenwort?
Double leaf fern with small leaves
Lady fern?
Double rows of small leaves coming off stem that comes off plant main stem
Also this double row leaf goes small from main stem to largest diameter to small again at end of leaf
lamiaceae family?
All lamiaceae family have square stems
Scott’s pine?
Has reddish branches which are mostly at top.
Moorland plants?
Common heather Crossleaf heather Moor heather Crowberry Wavy hair grass Hare tailed grass Soft rush sundew
Crowberry?
Has white lines on bottom of leaves.
Wavy hair grass?
Stem has a wiggly pattern.
Hare’s tail grass?
Top looks like a hare’s tail.
Where does soft rush grow?
Nutrient poor marshes.
