Q

Protein removers (3 types) aka enzyme products

A

Pancreatin, substiliin A, papain

Traditionally used 1x per week
Tablets, vials, saline or MPS. Newer products- liquid drops.

poor compliance bc cumbersome to use.

Q

Opti free express
2 preservatives
1 cleaner

A

Polyquad and aldox

Sodium citrate cleaner

17
Q

Opti free repleniSH

A

Developed for silicone hydrogels.
TearGlyde attracts moisture to the lens surface.
This is a polar molecule- hydrophobic part attaches to lens, hydrophilic part attaches to water.

18
Q

Optifree pure moist

A

Further refinement of RepleniSH

Tear glyde AND hydraglyde wetting agents.

19
Q

Blink RevitaLens (J and J)
3 preservatives
1 lubricant/cleaner

A

Biguanide, polyquad, EDTA.

Tetronic surfactant cleaner.

**effective against acanth cysts !

20
Q

Complete (J and J)

2 preservatives

A

PHMB, EDTA
“easy rub”
No wetting agent bc it created biofilm in the past.

21
Q

ReNu advanced (b and L)

  • 3 preservatives
  • 2 moisture agents
A

Biguanide, polyquad, alexidine (biguanide)

Moisture agents to help w comfort- poloxamine, poloxamer 181

22
Q

BioTrue (b and L)

-2 preservatives

A

Biguanide and polyquad

Bio inspired- lubricant, matches 7.5 pH of tears, keeps lysozymes intact (natural protective proteins on eye)

23
Q

Clear Care Alcon

A

1 bottle peroxide system
Surfactant cleaner in peroxide
Rinse lenses in basket for 5 seconds w clear care then soak for 6 hours

GP ok but must rub, no conditioning agent.

24
Q

Oxysept (J and J)

A
one bottle peroxide system
Surfactant cleaner in peroxide
Rinse lenses in basket for 5 seconds w oxysept, then soak.
**ADD neutralizing tablet
Turns pink when done

GP Ok, must rub

25
Q

Boston Simplus (B and L)

A

RGP MPS
Chlorhexidine and PHMB
Rub after soak!!!!

Rinse- soak- rub
Good protein removal

26
Q

Is Chlorhexidine safe for soft and hard CLs?

A

Small so will attach to soft CL and cause allergic rxn. Safe for GPs- will not attach.

27
Q

Unique pH (Menicon)

A

RGP MPS
Polyquad and EDTA
Adjustable viscosity based on pH of tears.
Less viscous than boston.

Cannot buy in local stores

28
Q

Boston Original

A

Cleaner and conditioner

Cleaner is abrasive to silicone. Not good for soft/high Dk lenses.

Conditioner is viscous to increase gettability.

Preservatives include chlorhexidine and EDTA

*cannot use this on any lenses coated with hydra peg

29
Q

Ultrazyme (j and J)

A
Subtilisin A
Weekly product
PEROXIDE SYSTEM
1 tablet in basket
MUST rinse lens prior to insertion. Need saline!
30
Q

Boston Liquid Enzyme

A

Subtilisin A
Weekly product for GPs
2 drops in each well.
Must rinse lenses prior to insertion.
