Solids, liquids and gases Flashcards
The particles in a solid are…?
close together - arranged neatly - vibrate only - can’t be compressed
The particles in a liquid are…?
close together - arranged in a random way - cannot be compressed.
The particles in a gas are…?
far apart - arranged in a random way - can be compressed
What is gas pressure and what would happen if the temperature was increased?
Gas pressure is when the particles are moving really fast in all directions. If the temperature was increased the particles would move faster.
Solid to liquid?
Melting
Liquid to gas?
Evaporating
Gas to liquid
Condensing
Liquid to solid?
Freezing
Solid straight to gas?
Sublimation - substitute of motion is mation
Gas to solid?
Deposition - The position
What is conservation of mass?
Conservation of mass is when the state changes but the mass stays the same.
