Solid Riveting Flashcards
What are the 5 stages of Solid Riveting?
Marking out Centre Punching Drilling Deburring Deforming
What do you do in marking out?
Use a RULE to measure how far up the material you need the rivet
Mark it out with a PEN
What do you do in Centre Punching?
Line up the CENTRE PUNCH with the mark on the material
Using a HAMMER hit the top of the CENTRE PUNCH to create a dent
What do you do in the stage of Drilling?
Put a piece of SCRAP WOOD where you are going to drill.
Line up the DRILL PIECE with the dent
Drill until you reach the piece of wood
What do you do in the stage of Deburring?
Using a DEBURRING TOOL, put the tip of it into the hole.
Then twist the tool - this gets rid of the burr from drilling

Using a METAL WORK VICE, put a set and snap tool into it.
The the rivet into the hole and put it’s head into the SNAP-HOLLOW
