Q

What does Vba mean. ___ relative to ___. And what’s the formula.

A

V ba means velocity of b relative to a. Vab = Va - Vb.

I can’t do subscripts here…

Q

What’s the procedure for constrained motion.

A

ESTABLISH A SENSIBLE DATUM. Establish position coordinated ( lengths ) relative to the datum ! derive the position equations to get velocity and acceleration equations. the signs show the direction

Q

For a rigid body, what is the relative velocity between two points

A

for a rigid body the relative velocity between two points must be perpendicular to the line joining the two point. Since the parallel part is zero.

Q

Some things to remember as you’re working thru circular motion?

A

sometimes the R are given in terms of Theta, which means R-dot which is with respect to t should be derived from the chain rule that R-dot = dr/dt * dr/d-theta.

Q

State some things that will definitely come up ! from Semester 1

A

know that a = dv/ds x ds/dt and use that to manipulate equations of forces. differentiate/integrate very carefully the equations of accelerations and displacements and move them around.

Q

What is the definition of Moment of Inertia.

A

Moment of Inertia is a measure of resistance of a body to angular Acceleration. In the same way that mass is a measure of a body’s resistance to acceleration.

Q

What is the equation in the parallel axis theorem?

A

I = Ig + md squared
where Ig is the moment of inertia about the z axis passing through mass center G. d = perpendicular distance between the parallel axes.
