Solid, Liquid and Gases Flashcards
How are solids made up
Very close together
What is the force of bonds in solids
Strong
Properties of solids
Cannot be squashed, do not flow, fixed shape and volume, dense and is measured in cubic centimetres
How are liquids made up
Fairly close together
What is the force of bonds
Weaker than the bonds in solids
Because the bonds are weaker what does this allow?
Allows the particles to move past each other
Properties of liquids
Cannot be squashed, flow quite easily, have a fixed volume but no fixed shape
How dense are liquids
Less dense than solids
How are gases made up
Well spread out
How are the bonds in gases
No bonds
Properties of gases
Easy to squash, flow easily, have no fixed volume, no fixed shape
How dense is a gas
Not dense
