Soft Tissue Rheumatism Lecture Powerpoint Flashcards

1
Q

Rotator Cuff Syndrome and treatment

A

Repetitive strain with gradual tendon deterioration occurring over years manifesting as pain in anterior and lateral aspect of shoulder especially with abduction and extremes of rotation, presents with tenderness over rotator cuff, pain on active and passive abduction and extremes of rotation
Treated with rest, ROM, exercise, NSAIDS, corticosteroid injection, or physical therapy

Q

Adhesive casulitis and treatment

A

Frozen shoulder, associated with tendonitis/arthritis in shoulder, associated with diabetes, lung cancer, pulmonary TB, MI, subacute pain course with pain and limitation of ROM, abduction, and rotation, physical decreased ROM, abduction and rotation, with pain, no synovitis
-treated with corticosteroid injection and PT, NSAIDS

Q

Olecranon bursitis

A

Usually due to trauma, sometimes due to inflammation like RA or gout, typically as history of pain and swelling over olecranon, swelling and tenderness over olecranon, ROM of elbow is normal, synovial fluid is noninflammatory, treated with aspiration and corticosteroid injection
