What do conflict theorists believe?
Conflict theory, first developed by Karl Marx, is a theory that society is in a state of perpetual conflict because of competition for limited resources.
What do consensus theorists believe?
That the absence of conflict is seen as the equilibrium state of society and that there is a general or widespread agreement among all members of a particular society about norms, values, rules and regulations.

What is Sociology?
Sociology is the study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behaviour. Sociologists investigate the structure of groups, organisations, and societies, and how people interact within these contexts.
What is a social construct?
They have been created by people in
society through shared interpretations and
assumptions.

What is Primary socialisation?
Primary socialisation is the period early in a person’s life during which they initially learn and develop themselves through experiences and interactions.
What is Secondary socialisation?
Secondary socialisation takes place when a child learns the values, beliefs and attitudes of their culture through those outside of the family, such as teachers, friends and the media.
What is Infrastructure?
A term used in Marxist analysis to refer to the economic basis of society. The infrastructure is manifested in the relations of production.
What is Superstructure?
The name given to all other institutions and structures in society, such as government, religion, education, and family. Such institutions reproduce bourgeoisie ideas and values, which helps to maintain the status quo and uphold the capitalist agenda.
What is Structuralism?
Human behaviour must be understood in the context of the social systems. People are not just independent actors making independent decisions, they are the product of the social conditions in which they live.
Top down theory.
What is Interactionism
A theoretical perspective that focuses on the everyday interactions between individuals as the basis for the development of society. Interactionism focuses on humans as social actors.
