What is sociological imagination?
The ability to see the societal patterns that influence groups, and organizations Challenging, questioning, and probing for a deeper meaningful level of understanding.
what is agency?
the capacity to achieve fully what an individual gets out and chooses to achieve
What is structure?
the constraints that can limit personal choice and also shape/influence an individual’s ideas, visions, values, etc. according to societal norms
at what point in a person’s life might most of their socialization occur?
mostly in childhood, but throughout their whole life ex: choosing gender colour before born
when might socialization occur as adult?
when you move to a new country/city, starting a new workplace, school, or club
what are the three key areas of sport?
1) behaviours/actions are regulated by norms and values (formal/informal rules)
2) Broader societal changes have influenced its development (politics, economics, culture)
3) ways of managing, behaving and performing in sport are historically rooted.
