What are norms?
Unwritten rules that define correct and acceptable behaviour in a society
What are values
The beliefs that we have about what is important
What are feral children?
A human child who has lived isolated from human contact from a very young age, has little to no experience of human care, loving, social behaviour or language
What is nativism
Opposition to immigration based on fears that immigrants will distort/ split existing cultural values
What is primary socialisation?
The early period in a persons life when they learn and build themselves through experiences and interactions around them
What is secondary socialisation?
When people other than parents/ immediate family teach people how to behave/ the communities moral code
What is tertiary socialisation?
Adapting to new roles and learning new norms and values in adult life
What are subcultures?
A group of people who hold different values to the society at large
What is social control?
The active or passive process of a group regulating itself according to beliefs, values or principles
What is collective conscience?
Common ideas, attitudes, ideas or beliefs that are shared between a social group, organisation or society
What is collective conscience?
The set of shared beliefs, ideas, and moral attitudes which operate as a unifying force within society
