A person who contributes to the society in which he or she lives; the person may be born in the country or may apply if he or she moves into the country from another country

What someone believes, but can’t be proved to be right or wrong
Opinion
A statement that can be proven to be true
Fact
People who share the same government and the same rules and laws

An action that is not fair
Injustice
Examples may include: schools, hospitals, libraries and police

Allows citizens to vote and to run for office

A condition that benefits the majority

Rights that protect a group of peopl

Citizens elect people to government that will make decisions on their behalf

Rights you are entitled to as a person

Challenge
Basic part of democracy where the laws apply to everyone equally
Rule of law
Treating everyone the same regardless of factors such as gender, race or religion
Equality
Treating people fairly, and sometimes making accommodation so that things will be fair for all
