What is a primary source?
First hand pieces of evidence from people who experienced the event.
What is a secondary source?
A source created after the event or time period. They are created by people who are not part of the event.

The era of history before writing was invented

What is a timeline?
A timeline is a line marked off with a series of events and dates. They are used by historians to put events in order.
What does an archaeologist do?
Study artifacts humans have left behind.
What does an anthropologist do?
Study human development, culture, and religion.
What does a historian do?
Use information from primary and secondary sources to document history.
What does a geographer do?
Study natural and human made features of the Earth.
What is bias?
An unfair preference or dislike for something.
What is carbon-14 dating?
A method to find out how old a once living thing is by measuring the carbon left in a fossil.
What does chronology mean?
In time order.
What is a timeline?
A line with dates marked off in chronological order.
What are the five themes of geography?
Place, location, human environment interaction, region, movement
What is the acronym for the five themes of geography?

What does movement mean?
How people, ideas, exports, and imports enter/leave the spot.
What is human environment interaction?
How we affect our environment and how the environment affects us.
What is location?
Where it is on a map.
What are the two types of location?
Absolute and Relative.
What is absolute location?
An exact spot, like coordinates or an address.
What is relative location?
A spot compared to another. (Example: my house is next to West Hollow Middle School.)
What is region?
What parts of a place (county, state, etc.) is it in? How is it similar to others in that region?
What is place?
What is it like when you get there? (Lakes, mountains, and landmarks are examples of place.)
