Dilemma
Situations in which a person is forced to make a choice, even thought they do not like any of the choices.
Middle passage
The voyage (passage) of enslaved Africans across the Atlantic ocean from Africa to the Americas.
Scramble
A setting where slaves were sold all for the same price.
Slave auction
A setting where slaves were sold to buyers who bid for them. The highest bid usually won.
Overseer
A person who was put in charge of the work of slaves.
Plantation
Large, privately owned area of land where crops were grown in large quantities with the labor of slaves.

So they could get slaves for there tobacco and sugar plantations.
