Events occur on the timeline moving form the largest number to he smallest and then continue in increasing order.
Timeline Labels
-King or Queen in power
-Power is passed through the family line
-In some cases, power is shared between the monarch and other parts of government/constitution
Monarchy
-A small group of people hold the power
-The group may gain power through force, wealth, status, race, education, Etc.
Oligarchy
-Citizens hold the power
-Citizens elect representatives to make decisions
-Can also be called indirect.
Representative Democracy
-No representatives
-Citizens participate in daily government functions
-Only works for smaller regions/systems
Direct Democracy
- One leader who has complete control over its citizens
- Power often taken by force
- Citizens are not represented
Dictatorship
- A government that focuses on one particular religion, using one god or supreme being
- This must occur alongside another form of government
Theocracy
-Originated in India
-Buddha was the founder
-Meditation and Enlightenment
-Do not believe in a single god
-Try to understand the meaning or nature of life within themselves
Buddhism
-Originated in Pakistan/India
-Believe in brahman
-Reincarnation
-Followers believe a person determines their destiny through the ways they live their live (Karma)
Hinduism
-Originated in Mecca, Saudi Arabia
-Founded by there prophet Muhammad
-One god named Allah
-The Quran is the holy text
-Worship is a mosque
Islam
-Originated in Israel
-Jesus Christ was their founder
-Bible is the holy text
-Worship in a church
-Has many parts
-Based on the teachings of Jesus Christ
Christianity
-Originated in Israel
-Founded by the Hebrew people (Abraham)
-Torah is the holy text
-Worship in a synagogue
-Believe in one God who created the universe
Judaism
