Timeline Labels
-King or Queen in power
-Power is passed through family line
-In some cases power is shared between the monarch and other parts of the government/constitution
Monarchy
-A small group of people hold power
-The group may gain power through force, wealth, status, race, education, etc.
Oligarchy
-Citizens hold the power
-Citizens elect representatives to make decisions
-Can also be called indirect
Representative Democracy
-No representatives
-Citizens participate in daily government functions
-Only works for smaller region/systems
Direct Democracy
-One leader has complete control over citizens
-Power is often taken by force
-Citizens are not represented
Dictatorship
-A government that focuses on one particular religion, using one god or supreme being
-This must occur alongside another form of government
Theocracy
-Originated in India
-Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) was the founder
-Meditation and enlightenment
-Do not believe in any personal creator or single God
-Try to understand the nature of life within themselves

-Believe in Brahman-God (also other gods/goddesses

-Founded by the prophet Muhammad
-Believe in one god named Allah
-The Qur is the holy test
-Worship in a Mosque
-Islam is thought to be a complete way of life (5 Pillars)

-Originated in Israel
-Jesus Christ was the founder
-Bible is the holy text
-Worship at a church
-Has many denomination/parts
-Based on the teaching of Jesus Christ (10 Commandments)
Christianity
-Originated in Israel
-Founded by the Hebrew people of Abraham
-Torah is the holy text
-Worship in a synagogue
-Jews believe in one God who created the universe
