Fertile Crescent
A curved region with rich soil in the middle east.
Tigris and Euphrates Rivers
Two rivers in Mesopotamia and part of it is in the fertile crescent and part of it is not.
Ziggurat
A temple built for the gods.
Polytheism
The belief in many gods.
Silt
Rich soil carried around the region when the two rivers flooded.
Cuneiform
A wedge shaped script used to keep track of their trade and so people could write their own languages.
Hammurabi’s code.
A early form of constitutional government written in 1754 BCE
Sumer
A city state that created cuneiform, the wheel, and ships.
Akkad
A city state that created roads which helped the army move quickly.
Assyria
A city state in which made art which had kings hunting, kneeling before gods, or conquering foreign cities.
Babylon
A city state that created Hammurabi’s Code.
Farming
A job that created the seed funnel which made it easier to plant seeds.
Writing
A system of writing that included pictures and represent objects created in 3200 B.C.
Math
A concept that was used to count goods.
Bronze
People mixed copper and tin to make a new material for stronger weapons.
