What is the significance behind the Person Case?

A

Long Answer: Challenged the Government of Canada to appoint a woman to the Senate – asked to redefine what “persons” mean. The court decided that women were not “persons” and could not be appointed to the Senate.
They then appealed to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London
This resulted in increased opportunities and participation for women in Canada.

Simplified Answer: After Women were not considered as a person, they appealed to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in Long which resulted in increased opportunities and participation for women in Canada.
