Henry Hudson, Giovanni Verrazano, John Cabot, and Christopher Columbus. Henry Hudson sailed for the Dutch to find a water route through North America. He found Lenape men and women eager to trade goods. Giovanni Verrazano sailed for the king and queen of France in search of a water route to Asia. He found more Lenape men and women. John Cabot sailed for the king of England. He found NJ and they later claimed it England’s. Christopher Columbus sailed for Spain. He found “Indians” and called the islands in the Caribbean Sea the West Indies.

For boys they had to cut fire wood, take care of animals, and lead the ox or horse that pulled the plow. For girls they had to sew, prepare food, wash pots, and take care of younger children.
