have same opportunity to move from one class to another

very limited movement
Biological race
humans are all one biological race

categories based on differences that are assumed to be biological
Racism and inequality
racism is the belief that some “races” are inferior to others;

Ethnicity
a group of people who recognize themselves according to common origins, language, shared history, religion, “race”, etc (use of the word “us”
Minority
a group treated with prejudice (attitude), discrimination (act)
Inter-group violence is likely or intensified with
o Integration into groups
o A strong sense of identity
o A “doctrine” or “dogma”
o Who see others as a threat
Terrorism/Ethnocide/Genocide
o Politically/socially organized
o Perpetrators take/want credit for it
o Extreme acts of discrimination
o “us” vs. “them”
How to achieve non-violence

Small scale, share social attitudes, cooperation/consensus/egalitarian; value group over individual
