Social policy refers to the plans and actions of government agencies
What do functionalists believe
That the policies are seen to help families perform their functions more efficiently and therefore make life better for their members
What is feminists view on social policies?
They take a conflict view, and see soviet as patriarchal and that the family benefits men at a woman’s expense
What are Marxists take on social policies
They are conflict theorists and believe that some policies concerning families are made to serve capitalism
What are conflict theorists of the family and social policy?
Society is on based two groups being divided by conflict, and they see the policies only serving the powerful groups in society
What do the New Right believe?
That the traditional nuclear family is the most self-reliant family and most capable of caring for it’s members
