What is social order ?
Social order is the general conformity to the shared norms and values so that society is peaceful and predictable
Much of our behaviour is socially controlled by society
Social order makes society run smoothly
What is the functionalist perspective of social order ?
They have the approach that social order is a great thing and that it’s based on consensus
What is the marxist perspective of social order ?
Their approach argues that social order is based on the power of the ruling class over the working class.
What is social control ?
Refers to the way in which society tries to ensure it’s members conform to the laws rules and norms and makes sure that deviance isn’t committed.
What are some examples of formal control ?
- courts
- armed forces
- criminal justice system
What are some examples of informal control ?
- media
- family
- education
- peer groups
- religion
- work place
