separable verbs
the verb is not complete until you have read/heard the whole sentence to see if there is a missing prefix at the end
be aware as this can change the sentence meaning
e.g.
Ich lade Fotos hoch.
Ich schalten der Fernseher aus.
Ich schalten der Fernseher ein.
ausschalten (to turn off)
einschalten (to turn on)
herunterladen (to download)
adapting tenses
prepare to speak in a variety of tenses by imagining that the question is in the past tense or in the future tense
you can use the same vocabulary, but you just need to change the tense each time to suit the question being asked

- you don’t need to translate it for yourself as you listen, read the questions in advance and then focus on the relevant parts of the recording
- the more you practice the easier you will find it

dafür/for:
Computerspiele sind kreativ (computer games are creative)
Man kann in Kontakt mit Leuten aus der ganzen Welt bleiben (you can stay in contact with people from all over the world)
Die Spiele sind lehrreich (the games are educational)
dagegen/against:
Man muss sich der Gefahren bewusst sein (you must be aware of the dangers)

aiming higher when writing about dis/advantages (4)
- use meiner Meinung nach + imperfect modal
- expand a sentence by using obwohl (although) which sends the verb to the end of the clause
- use a modal + infinitive to show you understand this construction
- use high-level sentence structures such as etwas anderes and sich vorstellen + dative pronoun
things to check after writing text (3)
- word order is correct (verb is second or sent to the end by a subordinating clause)
- tenses are secure and make sense
- spelling is accurate, including adjective endings, genders and capital letters
