Bullying done online is called cyber bullying. This is where people can send you nasty messages or pictures that can really hurt your feelings

How does social media help you build a relationship?
It’s useful for building relationships with the people that are close to you like your friends and family.
It lets you keep in touch with that person regardless of where they live
What do you have to keep in mind when building a relationship with a person online?
Identify their idea of what is cool and funny before you start sharing information with them
Remember once you hit send or click post, you are no longer in control of what happens to that content.
Make sure you distinct you who are and not to make a completely different character for yourself over social media

What is marketing and branding?
People that want to start a new business or companies that would like to expand their business can do so by advertising online for a very little or no cost at all.
They can put product up for sale on their business’s account.
What is networking?
People can find jobs via social media
Networking is basically building a relationship online were both people benefit.
What is smoasting?
(aka: “social media boasting”) is when people upload pictures of themselves that make them seem cool and ‘that nice life’ appearance
Why is smoasting bad?
It can make the smoasters contacts feel constantly under pressure trying to keep up with them.
What does etiquette mean?

What is cyber bullying?
Using technology to hurt someone’s feelings, to humiliate them online and even harass them on social media
How do you know if you are involved in cyber bullying?
Any nasty or hurtful or even rude messages get send to you
Humiliating videos of you are posted
Someone else decides to take your identity
Spread rumors about you on social media
What can cyber bullying lead to?
Anxiety
Depression
In worse cases…suicide
What should you keep in mind before you sent something?
If I wouldn’t say it in person I shouldn’t say it online
Will my message offend that person
Think about what I am posting
Once I hit send I am no longer in control of the content that I sent
What can You do if you are being bullied online?
Report the messages or pictures Tell an adult you trust Block those people Talk to a friend Get your school involved
What s sexting?
Involves sending sexually or nude or even semi- nude photos messages or videos to someone else
Why is sexting bad?
You may think you trust the other person with the sexual content that you have sent them but once you click send you are no longer in control of those images and what ever happened to them. It is illegal to sext someone.
How are our action in the virtual world different to the real world as in what you would say and do?

What is teen grooming?
When online predators pretend to be your friend so you can gain their trust and then suggest a meet up where they can take advantage of you.
How can you prevent teen grooming?
Avoid chat rooms Set your privacy settings Only interact with people you know Don't invite or add any strangers that you don't know Don't share personal information online

The virtual image that you create of yourself online…how propel see you on social media
