- The way a whole range of different hands of information can be combined and delivered in one format.
e.g. videos, texts, and images can all be stored on one website.

Western capitalist ideas (wanting profit, material/private objects) have became dominant across all forms of media.

- Digitalisation allows media convergence.
- Separate forms of media can now be accessed through one device. (e.g. a phone can play music, call, watch tv…)

A
- Extremely large data sets that may be analysed digitally and non-digitally to reveal patterns, trends and links, especially relating to human behaviour and interaction.
- There are several features of Big Data, which make it different to other forms of data.

What are the five features of big data?
A
- Volume: Info is now stored online, producing large amounts of data which is stored for infinite amounts of time.
- Velocity: Streaming at speed and must be dealt with promptly.
- Variety: Data comes in all types of formats. (text docs, emails, videos, numerical data)
- Variability: Data flows can be highly inconsistent. Idea of trends peak data loads.
- Complexity: Data comes from multiple sources.
