Define Social Justice
The recognition of equal dignity and rights of every human being and the promoting of just distribution of the earths resources
what are the three principles of justice
- the dignity of every person is to be respected
- every human being to be treated equally no matter the differences
- That people should support each other in solidarity
what are the four harmonies
- living in harmony with god
- living in harmony with yourself
- living in harmony with other people
- living in harmony with creation
explain the four harmonies
- pray to god and thank him for your life and opportunites that god has given you
- accept and be happy with who you are as a person as you have been created in the image of god
- grow relationships with other people and respect and love them. treat them how you want to be treated
- to treat creation with respect ie. don’t litter, break or destroy things.
what is original sin and how does it relate to the four harmonies
original sin is when Adam and eve break gods rule of eating the forbidden fruit. “original happiness and justice was lost through original sin”
what are three current social justice issues
- poverty
- racism
- hunger
choose one catholic social teaching principle. explain

what work does caritas do and what’s their mission
caritas is a catholic agency with over 160 members that work to create a fair and just world. A world without poverty, hunger sickness and racism and to break the cycle of poverty
explain the term ‘common good’
the common good requires even the overwhelming majority in society to provide for the basic needs of a small group in society
explain the term ‘Universal destination of goods’
where someone is starving or lacking any basic essential for life, they are entitled to take whatever basic resource they need from there surplus of another person who has more than they need
define the term solidarity
solidarity means ‘pitching in’ to share spiritual and material goods with others.
define justification
the destruction of the power of original sin over people and the restoration of each human being’s relationship with God.
