What is conformity?
Changing thoughts and behaviours as a result of group pressure.
What is a ‘norm’?
A behaviour, attitude or value that is standard, used or typical of a group.
Norms vary from what?

What is compliance?
Changing thoughts, opinions and behaviours in public to for in with others, but privately not meaning it.
What is internalisation?
Changing thoughts, opinions and behaviours because we believe others have the right answer.
What is identification?
When we value something in a group so we conform to their ideas.
What type of social influence leads to internalisation?
Informational
What type of social influence leads to compliance?
Normative
What is normative social influence?
When we conform to a group to be accepted by them.
What are the 2 types of evaluation?
Methodological and ethical.
What is methodological evaluation?
Evaluating the way research is carried out.
What is ethical evaluation?
Evaluating the way participants are treated.
What are the ethical guidelines?

What is the aim of Asch’s study?
To see if participants would conform to majority social influence and give incorrect answers in a situation where the correct answers were always obvious.
